The Prince of Egypt

The Prince of Egypt is a sweeping musical about Moses and Ramses, two brothers raised together in Ancient Egypt who are divided by a hidden past and called toward very different destinies. With a powerful score by Stephen Schwartz, including “When You Believe,” this production offers opportunities for strong actors, singers, dancers, adult choir members, and youth performers.

Casting: Ages 8+ for named roles, choir, dance ensemble, and kids ensemble
Teen & Adult Auditions: Tuesday, Sept 22 from 6-9 PM
Youth Auditions: Friday, Sept 25 from 5-6pm
All Video Auditions Due: Thursday, Sept 24 at 9pm
Callbacks: Saturday, Oct 3 (morning)
Parent & Cast Info Meeting: Tuesday, Oct 13
Rehearsals Begin: The week of October 13 (Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and some possible Wednesdays)
Rehearsals: The rehearsal schedule will be different for various groupings of actors in the show. Not everyone is called for all rehearsals, but expect rehearsals to be 2-3 days per week. We will have a rehearsal schedule posted very soon (before auditions)
Tech Week: January 2-7
Performances: January 8-17 at the Mesa Arts Center.
Note: This show will be double cast. We are aware that NATS Regionals take place during our second weekend. Performers will still be considered if they are only available for one week of shows.

AUDITION OPTIONS
Named role: For performers who want to be considered for a principal or featured role. Named roles may require acting, singing, and in some cases movement/dance.
Singing-only adult choir: For adult performers who want to be part of the powerful vocal sound of the show without being featured as dancers.
Dancing-only ensemble: For performers who want to be part of the visual storytelling and movement of the show without a singing-focused track.
Kids ensemble: For younger performers who will sing and dance as part of the ensemble.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
If you are open to Named roles and being in the full show, including ensemble: Prepare 30-60 seconds of a song that shows your voice and storytelling. You may also perform an optional 30 second monologue, if you’d like.
Singing-only adult choir: Prepare 30-60 seconds of a song that shows off your voice. Musical theatre, classical, worship, commercial pop, or choral-style selections are all acceptable if they show your voice well.
Dancing-only ensemble: If you are not interested in singing in the show, and only want to dance, you may attend our callback dance audition or submit a video. A song is not required for dancing-only ensemble unless you also want to be considered for singing roles.
Video auditions: Record your audition in a quiet, well-lit space. Please slate with your name, age, and which audition option(s) you want to be considered for.

OTHER DETAILS
Costumes: Limelight will provide costumes. Cast members are responsible for shoes, underclothes, and basic makeup.
Production Fee: There is a production fee for all actors 18 and under and still in school of $300. Adult actors are asked to pay a $150 deposit which $100 will be refunded upon completion of the volunteer hours commitment. Scholarships and deposit waivers are available. Ask for details. Additional scholarships may be available to those cast in roles with a smaller rehearsal time commitment.
Volunteer hours: Producing a full-scale musical is a team effort. Cast families are asked to complete volunteer hours through committee/project days, chaperone performances, and participate in strike after the final show. An opt-out fee is available for families unable to complete volunteer hours.
Double Casting note: Roles in this show will be double cast.
Inclusive casting: Performers of all backgrounds are encouraged to audition. The story is intended to be cast inclusively, and roles should not be limited by background.
